RHS Gold Medal Winning Garden Design Team
Robert Barker Design is a multi award winning garden design practice situated near Cambridge, creating garden designs for domestic and commercial clients across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire and nationwide.
After a career in music as a singer-songwriter, it wasn't until Robert started to design gardens that he really found his creative home.
Robert, (a Cambridge born and bred resident) began his formal training in horticulture studying with the RHS at Capel Manor College, which then lead to being trained at the Royal Botanical Gardens Kew. In 2011 Robert was part of Diarmuid Gavin’s Gold Medal and People's Choice Award winning show garden team at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and has worked for a number of well known garden designers. Robert returned to the industry respected Capel Manor College in 2013 to study Garden Design and Planting Design. Robert writes a monthly column ‘Down To Earth’ for the Cambridgeshire regional award winning magazine Velvet.
In 2016 at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show Robert was awarded a Gold Medal for his first show garden entitled The Red Thread.
In 2018 at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Robert was awarded a Silver Gilt Medal for his first Chelsea show garden entitled Skin Deep. The garden was critically acclaimed, and Robert and his garden featured heavily during the BBC coverage as well as featuring in the Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Harper's Bazaar, BBC Radio 2 and Talk Radio.
